7D: Data Beyond Borders: Creating Meaningful Partnerships for Public Land Research

Wednesday, October 2, 2024, 9:30 AM - 10:45 AM

Public land management is growing increasingly complex with rising visitor numbers, evolving funding priorities, and the need to address issues across large geographical areas. As the demand for data reaches an all-time high, public land managers face daunting challenges when addressing these ongoing issues alone. In this session, RRC Associates will present recent case studies illustrating how collaboration on research among public land managers has helped solve some of these challenging problems in recent years. A select number of case studies will be presented including a 10-year regional resident survey conducted among agencies in Larimer County, a multi-jurisdiction visitor use study for NoCo Places, and a statewide local access funding study for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. We will highlight the strengths, opportunities, and potential weaknesses of different approaches, as well as what to expect along the way.
