2:30 PM - 3:15 PM

As Prevent Child Abuse America strives to create a Primary Prevention Ecosystem, they are investing in local PCA chapters to support work that aligns with their theory of change. In this session, you will hear from the three chapter grantees about how they are elevating PCA America’s Theory of Change in their local work. Join us for an engaging session highlighting innovative, community-driven approaches to preventing child abuse and neglect. This session will showcase projects from PCA Alaska, Colorado, and New Hampshire that center lived experience, elevate family voices, and transform the prevention narrative. PCA Alaska – Lived Experience Storytelling Project: an initiative to bring the voices of those with lived experience front and center to the discussion of preventing child abuse and neglect. PCA Alaska launched the Lived Experience Storytelling Project – an initiative empowering individuals who have experienced child abuse and neglect (CAN) by providing tools and a supportive environment to share their stories. By uplifting these voices, Alaska is shifting the prevention narrative and building a stronger ecosystem of primary prevention. PCA Colorado – Centering Family Voice in Decision-Making: expanding efforts to consistently and intentionally integrate family voices across programs. With a focus on equitable engagement, this project included development of a family voice compensation model, streamlined contracting system, and other policies and procedures to strengthen family participation in decision-making at all levels. PCA New Hampshire – Transforming the Prevention Narrative: with a commitment to embedding PCA America’s Theory of Change into their work by shifting the conversation toward primary prevention and supporting Family Support New Hampshire to ensure lived experience informs the work, their project is creating a statewide ecosystem that supports all children and families, ensuring prevention is not just a service but a fundamental framework for thriving communities. This session will explore strategies, challenges, and lessons learned from these initiatives, offering practical insights for integrating lived experience into prevention work nationwide.
