1C: Building Bridges: Community Engagement Best Practices between Latinx Spaces and Ranger Agencies
Monday, October 6, 2025, 9:00 AM - 10:15 AM
This interactive workshop will explore community engagement strategies tailored specifically to Latinx communities, with a particular focus on building partnerships between ranger agencies and historically marginalized groups. Through a combination of activities and discussion, participants will learn effective engagement practices, cultural humility, and the co-creation of solutions in the context of environmental conservation. The workshop will highlight Las Aventuras de San Lazaro program as a real-world example of how park rangers and Latinx communities can work together to create meaningful outdoor experiences that are both culturally relevant, inclusive and sustainable. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of the barriers and opportunities for collaboration and a toolkit of approaches they can implement in their work.
