Juan Ocampo is a Resident Park Ranger for Boulder County Parks & Open Space. Juan began his ranger career in 2017 with Colorado Parks and Wildlife at St. Vrain State Park, where he discovered his passion for the career. Prior to working as a ranger, Juan worked in Yosemite National Park as an environmental science educator for Naturebridge. Juan enjoyed connecting with youth in the outdoors, and he is excited he can use those skills to co-create Las Aventuras de San Lazaro, a multi-generational outdoor adventure program for Latinx families. In his role as a park ranger, Juan is an instructor for mountain bike patrol, CPR/First Aid, and Defensive Tactics. As a mountain biking instructor, Juan prioritizes training ranger and deputy staff and creating introductory skills programs for youth. Juan brings unique skills and life experiences to the job, ranger team, park visitors, and all communities in Boulder County.
