Doug DePeppe is a Special Counsel in the Firm’s Denver office with a national practice in data rights, data protection, sports data and licensing, and cybersecurity law. At Buchalter, he leads the Industry Group: Cyber Investigations and Data Rights Enforcement. He has practiced multidisciplinary cyberlaw that were honed through his earlier career in various national cyber operations offices in the US Government, and the US Military. His experience and accolades include: service on the 2009 White House 60 - day Cyberspace Policy Review, as part of the Lawyers Working Group; induction into the Information Sharing Hall of Fame, ISAO Standards Organization (2018); Masters Degree level cybersecurity program development in academia and adjunct professor; and arguing on behalf of college athletes before Chief Judge Wilken in the House v. NCAA antitrust lawsuit. He also invented and is prosecuting a patent related to digital identity ownership rights with practice opportunities in cybersecurity and sports data. Finally, Mr. DePeppe co-founded the Cyber Resilience Institute and its Sports-ISAO Program, which provided cyber intelligence support during global sports events, including several Olympics and World Cup tournaments. He has spoken as a Keynote and a panelist at cybersecurity conferences on four continents, and has published and been quoted in Forbes, National Public Radio, Mondaq, Sports Illustrated, Datos Insights, CSO Online, Fintech Times, Cambridge University Press, New York Times, Lexology, and other publications.
