Collaborative Advocacy: Policy Strategies for Strengthening Families Through Home Visiting
Tuesday, August 12, 2025
11:00 AM - 11:45 AM
Investments in primary prevention are essential to ensuring families have the resources, opportunities, and relationships they need to thrive. Effective, evidence-based policies designed to improve family well-being and strengthen parental capacities reduce the risk that a family might experience a crisis that results in more costly, and often traumatic, interventions. This session will explore how two home visiting models – Healthy Families America and Parents as Teachers - approach policy and advocacy, highlighting the power of collaboration across diverse strategies within the home visiting field. Participants will gain insights into how different models can align efforts to advance prevention-focused policies, engage legislators, and support healthy outcomes for children and families. Together, we’ll discuss actionable steps to strengthen advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels and demonstrate how your voice can make a difference in shaping policy.
