Michael is the Swiftwater Investigator for CPW’s Boating Safety Unit. Tasked with being the lead investigator for commercial and private boating fatalities and near fatal boating incidents on the rivers in Colorado. Michael Leads the River Outfitters Licensing ranger team that checks compliance and enforces laws and regulations on over 200 commercial river outfitters in Colorado. Michael assists with investigations of boating incidents on flatwater and is a NASBLA Level 1 boat accident investigator and a member of CPW’s MERT. Prior to CPW Michael was a commercial river Guide/Trip Leader/ Instructor. Michael supervised the boating program as Chatfield State Park for 3 years prior to moving to the boating unit. Michael brings a deep background of both recreational and commercial boating on rivers and flatwater, Mountain Rescue experience and enforcement skills to CPW’s Boating Safety Program. Michael is an instructor in Swiftwater Rescue, Officer Water Survival, Snowmobile Operations and EVOC.
