Grant Brown began his career with Colorado Parks and Wildlife in 2008 as a commissioned Park Ranger at Cherry Creek State Park. In 2011, he moved to Boyd Lake State Park to serve as the Senior Ranger. In 2016, he was hired as the statewide Boating Criminal Investigator and Boating Safety Coordinator.

In 2017, Grant was appointed as the Colorado Boating Law Administrator and the Boating Safety and Registrations Program Manager for CPW. He has served as the president of the Western States Boating Administrator's Association (WSBAA), served on the National Boating Safety Advisory Committee (NBSAC), which is a DHS federal advisory committee, and has the current honor of serving as the chairperson for the National Safe Boating Council (NSBC).
