Fort Collins Natural Areas Trail Ranger Kayla Drake has been a ranger for 4 years. She is a Field Training Officer, and Emergency Medical Technician, a Wildland Firefighter, and a Certified Interpretive Guide. She is the resident ranger at Gateway Natural Area and when she is not consumed by managing the chaos of Gateway, she is out and about amongst the City's other 50+ Natural Areas dealing with various issues ranging from dogs off-leash to assisting with large scale cleanups of transient camps and connection people experiencing homelessness with resources and options. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, birding, kayaking, reading, cleaning, and tending to her 97 houseplants.
