I've been involved with computers as a developer, architect, security, trainer, etc… since the days of mainframes, 300 baud modems, and 50 pound portable computers. Yes, I’ve hacked mainframes. I break into and secure systems, sometimes the same ones. I’ve written code with security holes and written code to find security holes. I’ve been a part of programming, architecture, and multicolored security teams, as well as working with those teams to improve the privacy of the data they collect. My day job is to protect systems and data that are targeted by people who have incentive, time and money but are owned by people who don’t have money, written by developers who have impossible deadlines and run by teams who are juggling hundreds of programs.
