FAQ

Question: Is attendance at the conference open to anyone or only San Francisco ISACA Chapter members?
Answer: The Fall Conference is open to everyone. ISACA members from any chapter are eligible to take advantage of the member rate.
Question: Is there parking available near the Hotel Nikko?
Answer: The Nikko valet parking service fills up quickly, but there are plenty of other parking options in the neighborhood. See here for details.
Question: What is the route to walk to the Hotel Nikko from BART?
Answer: Exit at the Powell St. Station and follow this route.
Question: Can I share my registration with others, allowing them to attend in my place?
Answer: No, registrations are on an individual basis. Name badges and CPE certificates are based on the individual registrant's name.
Question: Can I attend any session or am I limited to the one I selected when I registered?
Answer: Attendees are able to attend different sessions than the ones they registered for. However, we need to comply with maximum capacity limits for rooms as required by fire codes. Therefore, if you want to switch sessions, you may based on availability.
Question: How many CPEs will I receive for attending the conference?
Answer:

See the table below for a breakdown of how CPE credits for the conference are calculated:CPE Calculation

Note that CPE credits are based on the sessions you register for. The "No Selection" registration option for a session block is present to account for attendees who are not available during a particular session block (i.e., to attend a meeting or take a phone call). The "No Selection" option does not qualify for CPE credits. The scanning of your bar code upon entering a session is NOT the driver for CPE calculations, the registration session selection is. Bar code scanning is for session attendance audit purposes only.

Question: When can I expect to receive my CPE certificate?
Answer: All CPE certificates are electronically distributed as a downloadable PDF file, which will be available up to a year after the conference. Within two weeks of the conference, you will receive an email with a link to respond to a post-conference feedback survey.  While the conference committee puts great value in the feedback we receive from attendees, all of the questions on the survey are optional.  Once the survey is submitted, you will receive another message including a link to download your CPE certificate.

CPE credits earned by San Francisco Chapter Members are auto-reported to ISACA within two weeks of the Fall Conference. The reported CPE credits will be in the “unapplied” area in your CPE tracking on your MyISACA page (www.isaca.org). It is your responsibility to record or accept only CPE hours you earned. If you previously recorded CPEs that is subsequently auto-reported by the Chapter, you should delete the CPE in the “unapplied” area. Note that auto-reported CPEs are not subject to ISACA’s annual CPE audit.

Question: How does the barcode scan process work?
Answer: The barcode scanning process is designed to completely replace the old sign-in sheet process.  To establish an audit record of your session attendance, it is important that you be scanned into a session for CPE-eligible time block during the conference. It is not critical which session you are scanned to, just that you are scanned into at least one session.  The barcode scans are time stamped so we can determine which session time block you were scanned in.  If you missed getting scanned into a session, and the time block has passed, visit the registration desk to get scanned for the session you missed.  Please note that the Opening Keynote and Monday and Wednesday Luncheon sessions are also CPE eligible, so please ensure you are scanned into these sessions as well.
Question: Is there a group discount available?
Answer: Yes, we offer a "Buy 10 full conference registrations, get the 11th free" option. To qualify, the 10 registrations must be for the full conference (not the one or two day alternatives) and must be paid registrations.  Contact conference@sfisaca.org for details.
Question: Are photographs taken at the Fall Conference?
Answer: Our conference committee does take some photos of the general and breakout sessions to be used on our website or newsletter. There is no formal presence of media at the conference.
Question: Does the Hotel Nikko offer a conference rate?
Answer: The Hotel Nikko does reserve a small block of rooms at a special conference rate, but those go quickly so reserve early. Call the Nikko directly (415-394-1111) and mention ISACA Fall Conference. If the Hotel Nikko is full, there are many hotels in the East Bay and upper Peninsula areas that are close to a BART station (the Hotel Nikko is just a couple blocks from the Powell St. Station). Consider hotels in areas like Emeryville, Oakland, Pleasanton, Daly City, SF Airport, etc.http://www.hotelsbybart.com/ is a good resource.
Question: What should I do if a speaker, volunteer, or other attendee says or does something I consider to be offensive?
Answer: San Francisco ISACA values the participation of each member of the ISACA community and wants all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.  Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the conference and at all chapter events, per the SF ISACA Chapter’s Code of Conduct, found here: http://www.isaca.org/chapters2/san-Francisco/events/Documents/CodeOfConduct.pdf
