Your organization announces that they'll be buying a company, merging with another competitor, and/or divesting (selling) parts of the organization. These activities can be complex and take a large number of internal and external resources to complete. For some organizations, this may be a first time event and everyone is learning and figuring out how to get the job done. For others, this may be a semi-yearly activity that is part of the corporate culture as the company adds and subtracts business units from its portfolio.
