Scott has over 30 years of experience in technology, beginning with classified electronic and software engineering roles supporting programs for the United States Navy. After joining Verizon in 1992, Scott gained increasing responsibility designing, operating, and protecting large global telecommunications network. He has worked in several disciplines around the world, including a multi-year stint in Europe where he ran a global solutioning organization for Verizon. Scott’s experience in cybersecurity began over 25 years ago when firewalls and VPNs became part of modern networking services. In the last 10 years, he has held several cybersecurity leadership roles that included running a global cybersecurity architect team for Verizon. This team consulted to some of the world’s largest and most complex organizations. After retiring from Verizon, he launched a new career as a cybersecurity consultant helping companies build resilient and secure infrastructures to protect their business. Scott currently consults for Acalvio Technologies where he is an evangelist for cyber deception and is passionate about the broad range of use cases it supports. Through his consulting company, he is also working as Virtual CISO, building GRC programs for companies so they can better defend against today’s advanced cyber threats. Scott has a bachelor’s in electrical engineering, a master’s in business administration and a number of industry certifications in leadership, security, and networking.
