Throughout Tim’s early career, he accumulated extensive experience across various technical roles in education, healthcare, and government from 1998 to 2014. As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for DEN from 2014 to 2020, Tim enhanced DEN's cybersecurity capabilities, developed and grew the international airport segment of the Aviation Information Sharing Analysis Center (A-ISAC), collaborated with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and partnered with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on airport cybersecurity initiatives. His notable contributions included co-developing an airport-specific cybersecurity control framework with Boeing, representing North American Airports in the TSA's US/Israel aviation cyber defense exercise, and participated in national-level cyber exercises such as CISA Cyber Storm readiness projects.
Since early 2020, Tim has served as the Director of Cybersecurity for Colorado RTD. RTD provides public transportation services, including buses, light rail, and commuter rail, to the Denver metropolitan area and surrounding counties with approximately 65 million boardings annually across 2,342 square miles. Tim actively collaborates at local and national levels through partnerships such as the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Security Standards Programs, and as a voting member on the DHS Surface Transportation Security Advisory Committee (STSAC).
Tim's unique perspective on the intersection of technology and public transportation systems, coupled with his extensive expertise, makes him a valuable asset in safeguarding our nation’s critical infrastructure and regional transportation systems. His dedication to bolstering security and protecting transportation systems is demonstrated through his leadership at critical infrastructure transportation operators and his ongoing contributions to federal government initiatives, industry consortiums, and local trade groups.
