Strategic considerations for Artificial Intelligence (AI), and related data management (e.g., infrastructure, privacy, security), are continually being overlooked in favor of rapid adoption initiatives, both centrally deployed by organizations, and through Shadow AI scenarios. There is also consistent behavior across many organizations to adopt net-new practices for AI governance and enablement, as opposed to ensuring that existing organizational capabilities are uplifted and aligned to deal with AI and related data management considerations. While the velocity and complexity of many of these scenarios is greater than previous disruptive technology scenarios (e.g., Virtualization, Cloud, Blockchain), the techniques and practices that can be used often already exist, or should exist, within organizations.
