Today, business partners often view cybersecurity colleagues as egotistic "experts" who lack practical business knowledge and experience to judge how "valued" their advice isn't. The World Economic Forum estimates that 60% of Global GDP will be digitized, and 70% of new value created in the economy will leverage digitally-enabled platforms. Moreover, since 2000 more than HALF of Fortune 500 companies no longer exist. Business model disruption is existential, and digital transformation is the catalyst. To keep pace, it's clear that the cybersecurity community needs to evolve. Meanwhile, the cybersecurity discipline is evolving, the technology landscape is changing, and we mistakenly continue to champion the hero syndrome. Sadly, we still don't understand how our organizations make money. The necessary evolution starts with business intimacy that bridges cyber risk quantification, resilience, and cloud competence.
