Mattie is a Colorado Springs native who returned to the Springs after starting her career in former Governor Hickenlooper’s Office of State Planning and Budgeting, where she led the implementation of the revised State Measurement for Accountable, Responsive and Transparent (SMART) Act with state agencies. She later served in the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office as Assistant Elections Manager, PIO and Finance and HR Director; while there, she implemented a community-focused voter registration program. She then tackled the complex issue of medical marijuana regulation at the City of Colorado Springs, representing the City on multiple statewide working groups. She has also worked as adjunct faculty in economics for Colorado Technical University and Pikes Peak Community College.
Mattie is now the Program Director for Secure the Vote at the National Cybersecurity Center, where she leads the effort to explore more secure options for overseas and disabled voters, as well as expand cybersecurity training for state and local decision makers. She works with the Whole of State Working Group to advance cyber range and cybersecurity resource options for Colorado. Mattie is also a current member of the Pikes Peak United Way Public Policy Council.
