Tracy L. Lechner is a respected and highly sought after thought leader in media, out-of-home advertising, technology, privacy and information security issues. She previously led the Privacy, Cybersecurity, Technology Transactions, Licensing, and Advanced Media practice group for a national law firm and is the former Vice President, Chief Privacy Officer and Assistant General Counsel of a multi-billion dollar media company. In the Spring of 2018, Tracy opened her own practice - the Law Offices of Tracy L. Lechner LLC. With more than a decade of in-house experience, Tracy has a unique, inside understanding of the complexities that organizations face in monetizing their data and protecting their assets. She has experience advising clients on a broad range of matters, including but not limited to privacy, data security, online behavioral marketing, geolocation privacy, outdoor advertising and mobile marketing. She works with clients to identify and mitigate risk, ensure awareness of “best practices” on data privacy and data security issues and to develop policies, procedures and strategic plans for the collection, use, sharing and protection of information. Tracy has also assisted clients in responding to security incidents and data breaches. In addition, Tracy has a robust real estate practice, assisting clients with acquisitions, divestitures, 1031 Exchanges, leases, licenses, easements and issues relating to the placement of telecommunications facilities, commercial signage and smart technology. Tracy is an acclaimed public speaker on topics such as privacy, GDPR, big data, location-based advertising, incident response planning, cyber liability, the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and virtual currency. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (“IAPP”) and is accredited by IAPP as a certified information privacy professional in the United States (CIPP/US). She serves as the co-chair of the IAPP Denver/Boulder KnowledgeNet chapter and is a member of the Colorado Electronic Crimes Task Force Steering Committee.
