Dustin Nowak is a Principal Security Consultant at FireEye Mandiant. Currently he leads engagements evaluating clients ability to perform Incident Response and security operations, and integrate the security program with the business. Prior to Mandiant, Dustin was a lead Incident Responder for CenturyLink, the third largest telecommunications provider in the US. The Mandiant and CenturyLink positions have garnered him broad experience across some of the largest commercial security incidents recently published in the media.
Dustin’s career began in the Air Force after graduating from the United States Air Force Academy in 2003. Over the course of an 8 year military career he traveled to 8 countries, providing security engineering and architecture leadership to support the Global War on Terror. He also completed his Master’s degree in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. Upon separating from the Air Force, he transitioned to direct support of government cyber-security operations in Northern Virginia. This experience exposed him to sophisticated, cutting-edge state actor techniques, tools and procedures. He is passionate about sharing the knowledge and experience he has gained to grow cyber security awareness.
