Bio:
Mayra Pacheco (they/them), M.Ed., is the Program Coordinator at the Nevada Institute for Children’s Research and Policy housed in the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and home of Prevent Child Abuse Nevada (PCANV). Mayra has over a decade of experience working with families and youth, and has developed and implemented multiple programs to surround children and families with a community of support. Their focus has been on fostering healthy family relationships, youth leadership development, and strengthening literacy curriculum for English Language Learners. In their current role, Mayra collaborates with statewide agencies to promote Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in Nevada. They also provide training to parents and professionals on recognizing and reporting child maltreatment, preventing child sexual abuse, toxic stress and child development, cultural competency, and positive parenting, among other topics. As a passionate advocate for healthy families, Mayra aims to inspire all communities in Nevada to build safe, stable, and nurturing environments for all children.
