Mealtime offers a powerful opportunity for parents to foster self-regulation, healthy eating habits, and strong parent-child relationships. Recipe 4 Success is a free research-informed training curriculum that equips home visitors with practical strategies to support caregivers in creating positive, nurturing interactions during meal preparation and feeding routines. By using techniques such as reflections, behavior descriptions, specific praise, and giving choices, parents learn to enhance their child’s self-control, strengthen their parent-child relationship, and encourage lifelong healthy eating habits. Participants will leave this training with actionable strategies to incorporate into home visiting and early childhood programs as well as how to enhance family engagement and developmental outcomes for young children. The strategies learned in this session will be beneficial regardless of implementation of this free curriculum. This presentation aligns with Insights for Impact by sharing valuable lessons from the field that can inform best practices, policies, and program design. By demonstrating how structured, positive interactions during mealtime contribute to child development, we aim to advance knowledge on what works and support a stronger, more effective system for families. Join us to explore how small, intentional interactions during everyday routines can create lasting change in children’s self-regulation and healthy habits!
