Carly Urban is a Professor of Economics at Montana State University and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA). Dr. Urban’s research is focused on how financial education affects consumer decision making. In addition to publishing in peer-reviewed academic journals, Dr. Urban spends much of her time translating research for broad audiences. She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Board and the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Her worked has been covered extensively by mainstream media, including NPR, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a B.A. in economics and international affairs from the George Washington University.
