Lean is used commonly in the manufacturing sector to reduce waste and improve efficiency, but these practices can be applied in any area. At GE, we practice Lean at all levels in all departments with our CEO leading the way. To identify gaps, strengthen our controls, and create a compliance-oriented culture, we used lean practices such as Gemba, Lean Daily Management, and Standard Work walks to create sustainable control processes which can be continuously improved. This presentation will provide an introduction to lean and practical application of lean methods in operating controls such as provisioning/deprovisioning, job change transfer, completeness and accuracy, monitoring, and change management.
