Janna has served as the Director of Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails for the Town of Crested Butte since 2014, where she leads efforts to steward public lands, expand recreation opportunities, and foster meaningful connections between people and place.
Raised in the mountains of Northern California, Janna moved to Crested Butte as a teenager and quickly embraced the community she now proudly calls home. She earned a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Education Leadership and Instruction from Western Colorado University before spending several years traveling internationally and guiding outdoor adventures. She went on to complete a master's degree in Experiential Education at Minnesota State University then worked as the Director of Campus Rec and the Director of Wilderness Pursuits at WCU for almost a decade.
A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Janna enjoys kayaking, skiing, rafting, surfing, diving, mountain biking, and a good book in her garden. She is passionate about creating vibrant parks, trails, and open spaces that inspire recreation, conservation, and community connection. Janna lives in Crested Butte with her husband and two sons, where they continue to enjoy the extraordinary landscape and quality of life that make Colorado's mountain communities so special.
