Brandon Cary is a Restoration Specialist with the Mile High Flood District, where he leads and supports projects focused on stream restoration, vegetation management, routine maintenance, and natural resource stewardship throughout the Denver metropolitan area. In his current role, Brandon collaborates with local governments, park agencies, consultants, and field crews to develop practical, science-based solutions that improve the health and resilience of urban waterways. Brandon brings more than a decade of experience in natural resource management and environmental stewardship. He is a proud alumnus of Western Colorado University, where he earned a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Environmental Biology and Ecology in the Gunnison Valley. Prior to joining the Mile High Flood District, he served as an Open Space Supervisor with Arapahoe County and held several roles with the City and County of Denver, including Open Space Horticulturist, Open Space Technician, and Park Ranger. His background also includes vegetation management with the City of Boulder, forestry work with the U.S. Forest Service, and aquatic invasive species prevention with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. Throughout his career, Brandon has focused on balancing ecological function, public access, and infrastructure needs through collaborative management and adaptive restoration practices. He is passionate about using data-driven decision-making, stakeholder engagement, and field-based experience to address complex environmental challenges and improve the long-term health of natural systems.
