DESCRIPTION

The expert‑level loop starts just south of Crested Butte at Baxter Gulch and climbs steeply out of the trailhead before connecting with the Carbon Trail. From there, you’ll traverse roughly 3.5 miles of rugged singletrack until reaching the junction with Green Lake, where a left turn leads to the final push toward the high‑alpine lake. The descent down Green Lake trail delivers a fast, technical ride all the way back into town. With nearly 3,000 feet of climbing and sustained challenging terrain, this route is a serious undertaking for strong riders looking for a demanding, rewarding mountain bike adventure. Baxter>Carbon>Green Lake.

ADDITIONAL INFO:

This multiuse strenuous route is approximately 14 miles long with roughly 3,000 feet of vertical gain. The connecting trails are all dirt surface trails, many of which are singletrack. There are sections of alpine exposure on this route, so attention to weather is important.
