When I noticed a trend in fishing violations among Spanish-speaking community members, I discovered a bigger problem: lack of access to language inclusive signage, brochures, events, and support. With no expertise in fishing or Spanish, I turned to co-workers, community partners, bilingual leaders, and local organizations to co-create solutions. Together, we provided Spanish-language resources, hands-on Fishing 101 events, and accessible pathways to licensing. This session offers a practical model for identifying hidden barriers, leveraging community expertise, and building partnerships that expand equitable access to the outdoors.
