DESCRIPTION

City of Fort Collins Natural Areas volunteers teach both pre-made lesson plans for school field trips and develop their own unique interpretive programming available to all community members. Staff must ensure that volunteers are providing high quality experiences and representing the values and mission of the Natural Areas department while in the field. Our team has developed a volunteer coaching process to collect this data, providing consistently formatted feedback for volunteers who lead both school field trips and public programs. This process provides opportunities for volunteer confidence building, learning, and growth in an approachable way. Staff uses trends and patterns found through this feedback to inform training content and structure throughout the year.
