Speaker Bio
Katie Rose has focused her career on building partnerships to create healthy, resilient forests. Wanting to balance science with management, she earned two masters degrees from Duke University, one in Forestry and the other in Environmental Management. Upon graduating she served as Duke University’s first Natural Resource Manager, creating their Urban Forest Master Plan and consulting on over $500 million of new construction and renovations. She went on to create and run Leaf & Limb’s consulting department, working with developers and land managers on tree surveys and forest based legal compliance. Katie Rose then founded and ran TreesDurham, a non-profit focused on tree planting and forest conservation. Most recently, she served as the Town of Cary’s first Urban Forestry Manager, writing code to increase tree and forest preservation as Cary rapidly expands in population. She is thrilled to now work for the Colorado Forest Service as their Forest Legacy Program Specialist, facilitating large landscape conservation across Colorado.
