7B: Bringing the Stories of Open Space to Life: Enhancing Visitor Engagement with Augmented Reality

Wednesday, October 8, 2025, 10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Parks and open space recreation programs require affordable, innovative, and customizable solutions to engage visitors. 3D mobile augmented reality (AR) offers an exciting way to connect people with their environment by linking location-based learning to immersive experiences. In this session, park and public space managers will gain practical insights into using AR to create engaging, equitable, and safe learning environments that celebrate the stories of open space. Colorado Parks & Wildlife and Anna Scheck, Partnerships Team Lead at Agents of Discovery, will share how they’ve worked together to use AR and artificial intelligence (AI) to tell meaningful stories that connect visitors to the natural world in new and innovative ways. Participants will also get the opportunity to experience mobile augmented reality with a demo Mission on the Agents of Discovery app.
